Update Dec 15, 2021

For immediate release: December 15, 2021

Dear EFRA members:

Given the recent rise in COVID cases across our health unit, particularly within schools and youth sports, and in consideration of our responsibility to keep our players safe, the Elora Fergus Ringette Association Board held a vote today and has decided:

• To cancel/reschedule all EFRA games between December 15 to 29, 2021 (all divisions). We will work to reschedule games in 2022 and provide further details as they become available.

• To make EFRA practices for all teams optional (coaches discretion to run, and parent/player discretion to participate) between December 15 to 29, 2021. Please consult with your coach and your team’s schedule on the RAMP team app as needed.

Decisions like these are challenging to make. Because the pandemic is a novel situation for everyone and details are changing by the hour, the Board is doing its best to balance families’ desire to participate with our overall responsibility to keep individuals safe and to do our part to limit the spread of COVID 19 within the community.

We recognize that this news is disappointing knowing how fun and rewarding it has been to be back on the ice this season. At this point, we are hopeful that this is simply a preventative and temporary pause in activity.

Over the coming weeks, we will continue to monitor the situation within our community and province-wide, taking cues from public health authorities, local government and Ringette Ontario to re-assess this decision as needed. We will keep you updated as much as possible.

In the meantime, we appreciate your support of our board, all volunteers, who are doing their best in a situation where no perfect choice exists.
