After an incredible weekend of competition, the team posted a 2-1-2 record in round robin play to earn their place in the semi-finals and battle their way to the championship game. Their determination, teamwork, and resilience were on full display all tournament long.
A special congratulations to Emily Linton, who was named Tournament MVP for her outstanding performance throughout the championship.
In the gold medal game against West Ferris, our EDGE team battled hard in a thrilling matchup, with West Ferris narrowly holding on for a 4-3 win on the ice. Following the game, the result was later adjusted after an official review determined that West Ferris was in violation of the tournament's substitution rules*, resulting in Elora Fergus being awarded the U14A Tier 2 Provincial Gold medal, Metchalf was subsequently awarded silver and Nepean awarded bronze.
We would like to recognize West Ferris and all teams in the U14A Tier 2 division for an exciting and competitive tournament.
A big thank you as well to the championship hosts, Kitchener, Waterloo, and Guelph Ringette Associations, and Ringette Ontario for organizing and delivering a fantastic provincial championship event.
We are incredibly proud of our players, coaches, and families who represented Elora Fergus Ringette with dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the weekend.
*As per Ringette Ontario's 25-26 TRF Adjustement Form (for U19 players and below), coaches certify "not to use substitutions to increase roster size in any games," and "acknowledge that [they] will receive a fine and forfeiture for any breach of substitution rules." - https://www.ringetteontario.com/form/6707
