2026-2027 AA/A Information

Are you interested in playing AA or A ringette next season?

For the 2026-2027 season, any player intending to try out for U14A and above (A or AA) at ANY association must first complete a Player Intent Form through Ringette Ontario (RO).

Whether you are new to competitive ringette or returning, this page will help you understand:

  • What competitive ringette means

  • What the commitment looks like

  • What steps you must take

  • Important timelines

  • Where to find more information

STEP 1 - Complete the 2026 AA/A Player Intent Form

🔹 This form opens today through Ringette Ontario.
🔹 Any player intending to try out for U14A or higher (A or AA) — at ANY association — must complete the form.
🔹 Submitting the form does NOT obligate a player to try out.

Deadline to submit: March 16, 2026

Why Is the Intent Form Important?

The Intent Form:

  • Notifies Ringette Ontario of your interest in competitive play

  • Helps EFRA determine how many teams we may be able to host

  • Is required before attending any A or AA tryouts

  • Does not commit you to trying out

EFRA does not yet know which A or AA teams we will be hosting for 2026-27.

Intent form submissions help us project numbers and determine potential team viability.
Please submit your form as soon as possible.

All teams must be approved by Ringette Ontario.

What Is Competitive Ringette (A & AA)?

Competitive ringette (U14A and above) involves:

  • Higher intensity practices and games

  • Increased travel

  • Longer season commitments

  • Tryouts to earn a roster spot

  • Greater time and financial commitment

Competitive teams compete against other associations across Ontario and may attend provincial championships.

If you are new to competitive play, don’t worry — many families are navigating this process for the first time.

Important 2026-27 Policy Update from Ringette Ontario

Ringette Ontario has updated its Team Formation Policy for 2026-27:

NOTE: Underagers will not be approved to play above their age level on any team unless needed to make the team viable.

The association must obtain written approval from RO.

This rule applies to ALL levels of play, including:

  • U14 B/C, A, AA

  • U16 B/C, A, AA

  • U19 B/C, A, AA

This is not limited to A and AA teams.

Families should be aware that playing up will be rare and only approved when necessary to ensure a team can be formed.

Tryout Timeline (Subject to RO Approval)

  • AA tryouts (our region): Begin in April 2026

  • A tryouts (association-based): Begin in May 2026

Exact dates, times, and locations will be posted on EFRA's website after Ringette Ontario approves team hosting.
