EFRA Competitive (AA and A) Ringette FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Do I have to fill out the Intent Form if I’m “just thinking about it”?

Yes.
Any player intending to try out at U14A or higher (A or AA) at any association must complete the form.

2026-27 Player Intent to Tryout Form

Submitting the form does not require you to attend tryouts.

2. What happens if I don’t fill out the form?

You may not be eligible to try out for A or AA teams.

Ringette Ontario requires this process.

3. Does submitting the Intent Form mean I must try out?

No.
It simply registers your interest with Ringette Ontario.

4. Can my child try out at another association?

Yes — but you must complete the Intent Form first.

Ringette Ontario manages movement between associations and approvals.

5. Does EFRA know which teams we will be hosting?

Not yet.

Intent Forms help determine potential numbers.
All teams must be approved by Ringette Ontario before associations can proceed.

6. What is the difference between A and AA?

AA:

  • Highest level of competition at each age division

  • Regional tryout process

  • Greater travel and time commitment

A:

  • Competitive association-based teams

  • Strong competition

  • Slightly less travel than AA (varies by region)

Both levels require commitment and dedication.

7. My player is new to competitive ringette. Where can I learn more?

We recommend:

  • Attending EFRA’s virtual information session

  • Reviewing materials on the Ringette Ontario website www.ringetteontario.com

  • Speaking with current competitive families

  • Asking questions — we are here to help!

8. Can my child play up an age level?

Under Ringette Ontario’s updated policy:

Playing up (underaging) will not be approved unless required to make a team viable and written approval is obtained from RO.

This applies to all levels of play.

9. When will tryout dates be announced?

  • AA tryouts begin in April 2026

  • A tryouts begin in May 2026

Exact dates will be posted once team approvals are confirmed by Ringette Ontario.

10. What should we do right now?

1. Complete the Intent Form as soon as possible
2. Mark the deadlines and try-out dates on your calendar when they are confirmed
3. Watch EFRA’s website for updates
4. Attend the virtual info session
